Arkansas Trip

Cilla and I made a trip to Arkansas last week. It was her first time to fly in an airplane and I must say, she was a champ! Here she is in the airport waiting to get on the plane. Can't you see the excitement on her face. As if she knew all of the new friends she would be making! She was such a little ham!
While we were in Arkansas, we got to meet this sweet girl...
Harper's mom, Kelly, and I met several years ago while I was still in college. Her best friend and roommate, Laurie, led a bible study that I was a part of one summer and then we all just became friends. Kelly and I both had little girls about two months apart. So, we had lots of stories to share and could definitely relate to what the other was going through.
I have feel so blessed that God has put so many wonderful women in my life along the way. Kelly and Laurie were such wonderful examples of Godly women to me several years ago. Now they both have young girls close to Cilla's age and I have them to look to as Godly mothers and for support as I go through this journey of parenthood! God knows just what you need!
Cilla, for the record, was NOT on her best behavior at lunch, but, Harper, on the other hand, was seriously so good! I loved getting to meet her and see her in person. She was just as precious as all of her pictures and she was oh so sweet!
Speaking of wonderful women, we got to see my dear friend Katie, briefly, but her girls were napping for the 45 minutes we spent with her, so we did not get any pics. We were too busy visiting!!!!

And the main reason for our trip to Arkansas (besides seeing Cilla's Nana and Poppa) was to celebrate this precious gal....
Laura, was my sorority sister and roommate through college and is the best friend a girl could ask for! I love her so much! She is expecting a baby boy at the beginning of November, so we went to Little Rock to help her celebrate baby Braysen and to help with her baby shower! We love you "Aunt" Laura and can't wait to meet baby Braysen!!

This is Laura with her aunt, her mom, and her cousin.
The proud parents-to-be!!!
Cilla and I at the shower!
The hostesses
I also got to see my friend Hillary (second from the right). She was one of my dear college friends and one of Laura's high school friends.
It was so good to be around so many old and dear friends. I miss you all so much. I am sorry if I missed seeing you while in Arkansas. As you know our time there is never long enough. Hopefully, I will get to see you next trip!
Oh and I am convinced that after looking at these pictures that I HAVE to tone up my arms....YUCK!

We had such a fun trip and wonderful visit with my mom and dad! It is always refreshing to have all their help and watch them love on Cilla! We can't wait for our next trip!

Where Have We Been?

We have been trying to get our baby well!!!
She had a bug which led to a urinary tract infection. She was first given an antibiotic that was not treating her so her antibiotic was changed which led to this.....
Are you kidding?!?! She had an allergic reaction to her medicine!!! This picture does not do the rash justice. It was all over her body. Poor Baby. We have had lots of sleepless nights and high fevers. After spending Saturday in the urgent care clinic with her daddy (because mommy was feeling so badly she couldn't get out of bed) I think we finally are on the mend!
Here is Cilla playing this morning! Seriously, I have not seen her this happy and full of energy since the first week in September!
Now if we could just get rid of her cough. Any advice?

Oh and to top it all off, all of our teams lost this weekend!!! I think Flint may lose his mind!

DCC: Making the Team

You may remember this post:

I mentioned that we got gifts for each other that are football related. Well, Cilla thought her daddy would definitely want her in a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader uniform to watch Sunday and Monday Night Football with him! So......
Does she look ready to make the team?!?! I think she needs to lose the paci and I am not sure that the big bow and barefoot look is "All American" enough for them!!! I hope this face is no indication of how she REALLY feels about me putting her in a cheerleader uniform!!! HA!
Cilla wore her DCC uniform on Sunday to help cheer the Cowboys on to a victory! We caught a little smile on camera here. There have not been many the last couple of weeks. This poor baby has been so sick! She is showing off some of her moves!

Happy Half Birthday!!!

Can it be? Can our baby really be six months old?!?! I know I say that every month but this month there is just something about it. Six months is not a little baby anymore!!! In a weird way, it kind of makes me sad even though I love everyday more. I love every stage more. I feel like my baby is getting big too fast! Or, maybe I am just sad that now I have no excuse. I have a six month old and I still can't get rid of these last few pounds! HA!
The past six months have felt like a blink in one way and in another way have felt like an eternity. I do remember life before her, but I can't imagine life without her!!! There have been more nights with little sleep than there have been with good sleep. There have been lots of challenges to overcome. Let's face it...this parenting thing is not easy!!! But, I could not be happier and I could not love anything more than our sweet girl! She really does brighten our days and she brings such joy to our lives and to our home!
I thank God for you everyday, Cilla. I am so proud of the beauty you are! I am honored and humbled that God chose your daddy and me to be your parents.
We love you bunches!

So, What have you been up to this past month?
* You saw your first football game! HA!
Your Hogs and your Bears remain undefeated in your lifetime!!!
* You have been sick for the first time and it has been sooooo sad!
* You went to Mother's Day Out for the first time and they said you were perfect. I already knew that!!!
* You are eating like a champ. You are almost solely on formula now. You love all your fruits and veggies. I am making lots of your baby food and I am having so much fun with that!
* You are sleeping from about 9 pm to 7:30 am. This makes mommy happy! However, we still have some struggles with you waking up in the middle of the night.
* You love loud toys! Oh dear!
* Still love the bath and the pool.
*Still love being in the car.
* You like to shop for yourself!!! I can't blame you. If I looked that cute in my clothes, I would like to shop for myself more, too!
* You love to roll and turn in circles and scoot. To not be very mobile- you are mobile!
* You love the doggies more than ever. You even like it when Sophie gives you "sugar".
* You are obsessed with the romote control and our cell phones!
* You are finally taking two distinct naps per day! And the Heavens parted and the Angels sang!!!

Three Days

We have been anxiously awaiting this weekend since......ummm......January, the day college football season ended! So there was lots of excitement in the air around our house on game day.
Flint went to North Carolina with the team. He had a BIG time! The Bears pulled off a huge victory against Wake Forest.
Here is Flint (far right) and Zach (second from the left). Zach works with Flint and is over the defense. The other two guys were professors that went along on the trip.
Here is the team getting ready to take the field.

In the mean time, Cilla and I were home....sick!
Poor baby still found the strength to put on her cute Razorback outfit and pose for some pictures!
She also helped cheer the Hogs on to a victory.
Sweet Girl!
She is going to hate us for this one day. Saturday night was miserable. Flint got in close to midnight from the game and I was not feeling well. It only went down from there. Our sick little monkey was up ALL night. We tried her paci, her crib, her swing, holding her, rocking her, laying with her on my chest, Tylenol, warm milk, cold Pedialyte, and finally it hit me.... At 6 am I put her in her car seat and went driving. She went to sleep after about 5 minutes, but I drove for 40 so she could get some rest. Not kidding you, I drove the circle around my neighborhood about 20 times!!! The crazy people out at 6 am must have thought I was crazier than them for driving around in circles!!! Of course she woke up once we got home. So, Flint took the next shift. Thank goodness. This momma needed some rest and a break!
Trying to keep her happy and soothed, we tried a cold wet washcloth on her head. She loved this. To my disbelief, the girl left it on her head! Flint called her a little mushroom!
What a sick mess is she?!?! Poor baby!
Monday things started looking up and I was getting cabin fever so we went to Chick-Fil-A for a late lunch. It was sport your team's logo and get a free Chick-Fil-A sandwich day. Cilla and I wore our Baylor gear this time since we wore Razorback stuff on Saturday. We saw our friends Josh and Sally there. Josh and Sally are tons of fun! We love them! Here is Sally with Cilla. Sorry, Sal, I borrowed the pic from you! This was at Josh's surprise 30th birthday par-tay at Ninfa's! Sally is having a baby in January and is being surprised just like we were! You go gurl! It will well worth the wait!

I forgot to take a picture while we were at Chick-Fil-A so I got one once we got home. Unfortunately, the drool had taken over the front of Cilla's shirt. I promise, she was clean and cute when we left the house!
Man, I LOVE Chick-Fil-A.
Whew...what a long three day weekend!

Merry Football Christmas

Yes...we celebrate the first day of college football season like it is Christmas because there is that much excitement in the air at our house!!! Flint and I talked about people thinking we were sacrilegious and our is response is that we may not be celebrating Christ's birth on this day but we are thanking Him for yet another football season!

Here is Cilla waking up on Football Christmas morning.
Nothing makes me more happy than walking into her room and seeing her sparkly self light up in the mornings!!!! I thank God for every smile, laugh, and kick!!!

So in honor of the big day, we exchange football related gifts and we had tailgate foods for dinner- pigs-in-a-blanket, Southwestern egg rolls, and fruit pizza!!! YAY for non-healthy man food!
Flint got Cilla some cute football shirts! She was so cute in them even though they were boys' shirts!!! Here she is after daddy dressed her in her new shirt and bloomers. Her mommy put her denim miniskirt on with her new shirt and a big bow on top of her head and she was plain ole precious!!! (I didn't get a pic of mommy's preferred look...we were on our way out the door)

Not sure what to think about all the excitement! Or maybe she is thinking her parents are crazy!!!

Here is the gift Flint got me.
I LOVE it!!! It is Baylorlishous!!! When it finally cools down here I can wear it to Baylor sporting events!

I am waiting to reveal the gift Cilla and I got Flint until the perfect time.

Enjoy your weekend! I hope your team wins!
Go Hogs and Go Bears!

Cilla Goes to School

Doesn't that sound like a children's book title?!?! Well, actually she is going to Mother's Day Out! We tell her she is going to school so that she does not think that her mommy does not want to spend the day with her!
Here is my big girl before we were off to school!

In all honesty, I have been really torn about what to do. Send her to MDO or keep her home?!?! It boils down to mommy needing one day a week to get some things done. I think it will make me a better mom to her and I think I will value my time with her more. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE LOVE LOVE being at home everyday with my girl. Believe me, I thank God everyday for the opportunity. But with daddy's work schedule and Cilla's lack of napping, mommy needs a few hours a week to herself. A day I can once again feel efficient with my time. Possibly to shower for as long as I would like and not worry about what she doing. To sit down at the computer to get some work done. To not have to feed a hungry little mouth every three hours! So hopefully, I will get lots done on Tuesdays and we can have much more Cilla and mommy fun time the rest of the week! In the mean time, our little social butterfly gets to make some new friends and be in a different environment for one day a week. I think it is going to be a good thing for everyone!!!

AND on a fun note: I dropped Cilla off at school and on my way back out to my car a gal stops me (I still have my Razorback Alum tags on my car!) and asks me if I am from Arkansas. Turns out I AM and she is, too! We went to the same high school and we grew up in the same neighborhood! We were just a couple of years apart in school!!! Turns out we had tons of mutual friends. How bizarre, but fun! Thank you, Lord, for small coincidences that brighten our days!!!
